Trigonometry

Trigonometry is a branch of mathematics that studies relationships between side lengths and angles of triangles.

- Wikipedia

Given enough information about a triangle it allows you to extrapolate all the other missing data. Because of the prevalence of triangles in engineering and the real world it is a very helpful tool for applications.

You can use trigonometry functions to solve for missing variables in right triangles. Or trig-identities to find equivalent functions.
